Consul General Dr Venkatachalam Murugan welcomed a high-level Gujarat delegation to the University of Warwick for the India Global Forum Smarter Regions Forum, which brought together leaders from government, business, and academia to explore India’s expanding role in the global economy and the opportunities emerging from its rapid growth on 22nd June 2026.
The visit follows the successful West Midlands Mayoral Trade Mission to India in February this year and reflects the continued strengthening of the India–West Midlands partnership. It also underscores the growing momentum in bilateral engagement between India and the United Kingdom at the regional level.

Participants emphasised the significant potential for deeper collaboration to drive sustainable economic development and shared prosperity.
Prominent speakers, including Manoj Ladwa, Founder & Chairman of India Global Forum, Neil Rami, CEO of the West Midlands Growth Company, and Ed Cox, CEO of the West Midlands Combined Authority, highlighted how the forum demonstrated strong alignment between both regions. They also underscored the shared ambition to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.
The event reinforced the importance of sustained engagement between regional ecosystems in India and the UK, positioning Gujarat and the West Midlands as key partners in shaping the future of global industrial and innovation-led growth.
