Tatkaal Passport Service

Applicants who wish to apply under the Tatkaal Service must meet the following eligibility requirements and provide the necessary supporting Indian identification documents.

Adult Applicants (18 years and above)

Adult applicants applying under the Tatkaal service must provide three (3) valid Indian identification documents as supporting proof. Accepted documents may include:

Last Passport issued (in case of re-issue only)
Aadhaar Card
Voter ID Card
PAN Card
Driving Licence issued in India
Bank passbook or Post office passbook
Service photo identity card issued by State or Central Government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or public limited companies
Pension document
Birth Certificate issued under the Registration of Birth and Deaths Act, 1969
Any other valid Indian Government-issued identification

All documents must be valid, legible, and submitted as clear copies along with the application.

Minor Applicants (Below 18 years)

Minor applicants applying under the Tatkaal service must provide two (2) valid Indian identification documents as supporting proof. Accepted documents may include:

Birth Certificate
Aadhaar Card
PAN Card
Ration card
Any other valid Indian Government-issued identification
Last Passport issued (in case of re-issue only)

Eligibility Criteria

Tatkaal scheme is not available for certain categories of applicant. Before applying under Tatkaal scheme, applicant needs to check eligibility criteria. Please find the categories not under Tatkaal Scheme under the following link:

Tatkaal service cannot be extended to those applicants whose Indian Passports have expired for more than 3 years ago or who do not have a valid visa.
Applicants are required to produce original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies of the same at the time of submission of application.

Please Note:

Discretion of processing Tatkaal application rests with the Consulate General of India, Birmingham. The application may be put on hold by Passport Issuing Authority if not found fit for Tatkaal service even if it falls under the eligibility criteria. Fee once paid will not be refunded.
