An Emergency Certificate can be issued to an Indian national for one-way travel to India in case of non-availability of a valid passport (due to loss, damage, or expiry) and where a new passport cannot be issued immediately.
The Emergency Certificate is issued after the cancellation of the existing passport. On arrival in India, the holder must contact the concerned Passport Issuing Authority for the issuance of a new passport.
