India–UK healthcare relations received a fresh impetus at the Medical Value Travel Roundtable hosted at the Consulate General of India, Birmingham. The event was jointly organised by the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Marengo Asia Hospitals, and Medical Travel Company UK, and brought together key voices from the healthcare and medical tourism sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Dr. Venkatachalam Murugan reaffirmed the enduring strength of India–UK healthcare ties, describing them as “strong and unmatched.” He highlighted the pivotal role played by professionals of Indian origin within the UK’s healthcare system, noting that their contributions have greatly enhanced the quality and reach of medical services in the country.
The roundtable focused on India’s expanding role in global medical tourism, exploring opportunities to promote India as a leading destination for affordable and world-class medical care. Discussions also included the development of strategic partnerships and frameworks to facilitate seamless medical travel and patient care coordination between India and the UK.
The event served as a platform to foster greater collaboration, share best practices, and further deepen the long-standing healthcare partnership between the two nations.
