Diwali celebrations - 2023

Consulate General of India Birmingham jointly celebrated the Diwali for the 7th time with the West Midlands Combined Authority on 5th November, 2023 at the majestic, iconic venue, the Birmingham Town Hall.
Over 700 guests present at the Hall rejoiced livedance, music, Dhol, fun, Shloka & Shabad. Sparkly lights & beautiful diya decorations created the perfect ambiance for the Festival of lights. Video display of the success, achievements & growth of India followed by lamp lighting by Consul General Dr Shashank Vikram, Mayor Andy Street & Preity Zinta. Consul General Dr Shashank Vikram warmly welcomed the diaspora & said ‘#Britain holds some of the biggest Diwali celebrations outside India! This reflects the strong bond which both the countries shares! May the years ahead bring success, wealth, joy, and abundance, Happy Diwali! ’. Connecting Bollywood, entertainment & Diwali in Midlands! Mayor Andy Street lauded the contributions of the entertainment Industry of India & its popularity in UK. Soon an interesting conversation was shared between Mayor Andy Street & Actor Preity Zinta & Consul General Dr Shashank Vikram on the journey, achievements, Bollywood, Cricket & What brought Preity Zinta to #Birmingham. Crowd cheered & danced with the electrifying performance of Singer Navin Kundra.
At the end, Raffle winners were awarded prizes by Head of Chancery Mr Aman Bansal.
