Consulate General of India, Birmingham hosted the Surya Namaskar Challenge as part of Curtain Raiser for 12th International Day of Yoga on 28 May 2026: As part of the Curtain Raiser celebrations for the 12th International Day of Yoga, India in UK (Consulate General of India, Birmingham) proudly organised a special Yogasana sports competition—the Surya Namaskar Challenge—bringing together participants across all age groups in a vibrant celebration of wellness, discipline, and holistic living.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children and adults alike, who competed in separate categories and experienced the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga through guided sessions conducted by experienced yoga practitioners. The performances were evaluated by a panel of esteemed yoga experts.
The winners of the competition will be felicitated during the main celebrations of the International Day of Yoga, scheduled to be held on 21 June at Victoria Square, Birmingham.
Following the overwhelming response, another session of the Surya Namaskar Challenge will be organised on 9 June 2026 at the Consulate General of India, Birmingham.
