On the occasion of Vaisakhi on 29 April 2026, Consul General Dr. Venkatachalam Murugan, along with Sikh community leaders, inaugurated the “Panorama of Sikh Stamps and First Day Covers” exhibition at the Consulate General of India, Birmingham. Curated by Global Sikh Vision, the exhibition showcased a rare collection of philatelic treasures tracing the evolution of Punjab and the Sikh Empire through commemorative stamps and First Day Covers. The displays offered visitors a unique and insightful perspective on Sikh history, heritage, and culture through the medium of philately.
The free, day-long exhibition attracted members of the Sikh and Punjabi diaspora from across the Midlands and received an enthusiastic response from visitors and community representatives. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Dr. Venkatachalam Murugan appreciated the efforts of Global Sikh Vision in preserving and promoting Sikh heritage through innovative cultural initiatives.
