The Council House in Birmingham witnessed a grand reception for the 76th Republic Day, with over 200 community members from Midlands North joining the festivities on 26th January, 2025. The event showcased India's vibrant cultural heritage with enchanting performances of Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Garba, patriotic songs, and a moving harp recital. This spectacular celebration was a testament to the enduring cultural ties between India and the UK. Consul General Dr Venkatachalam Murugan delivered a heartfelt welcome address, highlighting the shared history and bright future of India-UK relations. Dignitaries were honored for their invaluable support in strengthening these ties. The evening began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the national anthems of India and the UK, symbolizing the unity and shared values of the two democracies. This year, India in UK (Consulate General of India, Birmingham) proudly recognized Indian-origin healthcare professionals for their exceptional contributions to the UK. As part of this Professor Kiran Patel, Chief Medical Officer of University Hospitals Birmingham, was felicitated as a representative of this dedicated and impactful community.
