Report on Spring Fair, Birmingham 2024 and promotion of Bharat Tex- 2024

Consul General Dr Venkatachalam Murugan inaugurated the India Pavilion at the annual Spring Fair at NEC Birmingham on 4th February, 2024. Exhibitors from three departments of India: Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), The Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), The Jute Board participated at the Fair. The UK has been home to Spring Fair for 73 years. The programme connected more than 1,200 Spring Fair exhibitors with more than 8,000 buyers, pre-show for more than 15,000 high value meetings. This live event was held across 4 days in February 4- 7, 2024 at the NEC Birmingham, with its central location making it easily accessible for both UK and international visitors. 20 exhibitors from HEPC, 21 exhibitors from ITPO & 8 from the Jute Board showcased various Home, Living, Fashion, Jewellery, handloom, Textile & sustainable Jute products. Consul General met with all the exhibitors and discussed ways how they could promote theirs products and expand reach in the global market. Following that,on 5th February a luncheon meeting was organised in Consulate General of India, Birmingham, with members from the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Department for Business and Trade, and members from the UK Textile Business in the presence of Shri Vivek Kumar Bajpai, Additional Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Attendees were appraised about the vast scope & opportunities available in India in textile Industry. The event served as a platform for promoting BharatTex 2024 which will be held in New Delhi. The presentations and videos explained briefly about the significance of this Global Textile Fair. Attendees expressed keen interest in participating the fair & exploring partnerships and investment opportunities within this sector. During interactions several queries of the UK businesses were addressed. The focus was on leveraging each other's strengths to drive innovation and competitiveness.
