The Consulate General of India successfully presented Magnetic Maharashtra at the at the European Marathi Sammelan 2025 which was held from the 4th July to 6th July 2025 in Leicester. This three-day celebration was a vibrant showcase of Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage and its immense potential in trade, tourism, and technology. The event featured cultural performances, thematic presentations, curated film screenings, and authentic Maharashtrian cuisine that engaged and enlightened the diverse audience.
Consul General Dr. Venkatachalam Murugan addressed the gathering and emphasised the wide-ranging opportunities Maharashtra offers to British SMEs and institutions. He encouraged universities, businesses, and academic leaders in Leicester and the wider UK to explore partnerships and investment avenues by visiting Maharashtra firsthand and experiencing its dynamic growth and collaborative spirit.
The event was graced by a distinguished delegation from India, including Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director and Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University); Dr. Rajeev Yeravdekar, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Biomedical Sciences at Symbiosis International University; Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Vice-Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik; Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Rajeev Kanitkar; and renowned film and theatre personalities Anand Ingale and Pushkar Shrotri. These dignitaries interacted with local leaders, academics, and entrepreneurs, highlighting sector-specific collaboration possibilities ranging from education and healthcare to film, media, and tourism.
The presentation explored Maharashtra’s role in driving India’s economic future, focusing on its infrastructure-led development, digital transformation, and dynamic sectoral growth. Mr. Aman Bansal, Consul (Commerce, Community & Culture) and Head of Chancery, offered a detailed overview of the state's investment landscape, highlighting emerging opportunities and the strategic vision that positions Maharashtra at the forefront of India’s growth journey. The Economic Engine Powering Viksit Bharat 2047 was the highlight.
Throughout the three days, short videos and promotional films on Maharashtra’s tourism offerings played across the venue, further immersing the attendees in the state’s diverse appeal. With an overall attendance of more than 600 to 700 people, the event served as a powerful platform to strengthen India–UK ties and reaffirm Maharashtra’s image as a truly magnetic destination for cultural, commercial, and strategic partnerships.
