Between 1942-48 a group of Polish nationals affected by II World War were provided refuge by Maharaja of Jamnagar, Gujarat. In a special event 'Hidden Stories of Exile' in Leicester on 28th June, 2022. Both Polish & Indian community members joined together to remember this great example of humanity and friendship in difficult times. Dr Shashank Vikram, Consul General participated in the event and met with the elders who shared fond memories of their stay in India. A special book has also been published to record the journey of these polish elders now settled in UK.
