Celebration of India's 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019 at CGI , Birmingham

Consulate General of India, Birmingham celebrated India's 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019 with traditional fervor and enthusiasm at the Chancery premises. The celebrations in the Chancery commenced with hoisting of the National Flag by the Consul General followed by collective singing of the National Anthem.The Consul General read out the address of Hon'ble President to the Nation. As part of the celebrations, a cultural program was organised, which included performances patriotic songs by local accomplished singers as well as by group of young Sufi singers (Ali Brothers) from India and recitation of patriotic poems by school children. More than 150 members of British and Indian community and the Consulate officials joined the celebrations including the West Midlands Mayor Mr. Andy Street, and several city Councillors from Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester etc., academics, professionals and other members of the Indian diaspora.
