Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar's 128th Birth Anniversary celebration at CGI , Birmingham

The Consulate General of India, Birmingham celebrated the 128th Birth Anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar in the Chancery premises on 15th April, 2019. His Excellency, Assistant High Commissioner, Bangladesh, Mr. Muhammad Nazmul Hoque, Deputy Lieutenant, Former High Sheriff, Chairman of Faith Forum (Leics) & Sikh Welfare and Cultural Society UK, Mr. Resham Singh Sandhu, Head Nirankari Mission & Chairman, Sandwell Confederation of Indians, Mr. H.S. Bhatia, (Upashak) were among the distinguished guests. The event began with lighting of the lamp by Consul General, Dr. Aman Puri & other distinguished members of Indian diaspora. Consul General Aman Puri in his welcome address mentioned that Dr. Ambedkar was the driving force behind establishment of equality & social harmony, the creator of a prosperous & inclusive India.
This was followed by speeches by prominent members of Indian diaspora highlighting the importance of the teachings of the Architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar. Prominent speakers included Mr. Resham Singh Sandhu, Mr. H.S. Bhatia, (Upashak), Dr. Balbir Kumar, Education Secretary, Guru Ravidas Temple, Soho Road and Ms. Vandana Mukesh Sharma, Geetanjali Multilingual Literary Circle. Poetries in Hindi were also recited on the occasion by Mstr. Akarsh Bansal and Ms. Kavita Moham. Members of the Indian community from Midlands & North England attended the event.
