As you are aware, India today is one of the leading manufacturers/exporters of Man Made Fibre (MMF) textiles in the world, and in this connection, you will be glad to note that our exports of these textiles reached a level of around US$ 6 Billion during 2016-17. India is self-sufficient in production of all types of raw materials required for the industry and is currently exporting these items to more than 150 countries. India is also ranked 4th in Man Made fibres and yarn in the world today.
We had an export-trade of about USD 161 Million with UK during the year 2016-17, which includes fabrics, made-ups, yarn and fibre. Though we had a growing trend of trade from 2012 to 2015, it started declining subsequently and currently also the downward trend continues with a fall of around 14.35%. Among the products that are being exported to UK, made-ups and fabrics are the main items of our trade followed by yarn and fibre to UK.
Since India today is one of the leading producers and exporters of Synthetic & Rayon textiles (Man Made Fibre textiles), and also our current share of export to UK is declining, we propose to reverse this negative trend of our trade by organizing participation of Indian companies in TEXFUSION during the month of October 2018 with a view to explore the possibilities of expansion of our current trade.
We expect about 25 manufacturers/exporters to participate in the proposed event. Further details of the proposed Exhibition are as follows:
