Folk music and dance by Assamese artist Ms Jina Rajakumari
On July 17, Consulate General of India, Birmingham, organised an evening of traditional folk music by eminent Assamese artist Ms. Jina Rajkumari. Ms. Rajkumari presented Assamese folk songs and dances such as Bihu, Tiva etc., songs composed by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and mesmerised the audience by her performance.
The programme was attended by more than 100 members of Indian community including Former Lord Lt. Paul Sabapathy, Mr. Resham Singh Sandhu,DL, Dr. Satya Sharma, DL, Dr. Krishan Kumar, Founder, Gitanjali Multilingual Literary Circle, Pt. Madhu Shastri, Coordinator, National Council of Hindu Temples, Shri Harmohinder Singh Bhatia 'Upashakji', Secretary, Sant Nirankari Mission, Mrs. Piali Ray, Director, SAMPAD, Mrs. Chitra Ramakrishnan, Founder ,Shruti UK, Mr. Raj Fulchand, Art of Living, Mr. Hamid Malik, Federation of Indian Muslim Organisations, Mr Shakil Pathan,Gujarat Muslim Association, Consul General J K Sharma and CGI officials.
At the end Ms Rajkumari was honoured with a shawl and audio CDs of her songs were presented to prominent persons.
