  • Applicants are advised not to finalize their tickets before obtaining appropriate visa . The processing time for visa varies from application to application and is at the sole discretion of the High Commission of India and its Consulate in the UK, and some applications may take longer than others to get processed. Hence, confirm your travel plans only after obtaining the appropriate visa. (For details please refer to 'processing' time for different categories of visas at http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk. Applicants will be liable for any loss of ticket or hotel booking made in anticipation of obtaining a Visa.
  • Validity of visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of travel.
  • For Nationals of Pakistan : Registration required within 24 hrs of arrival in India.
  • For Nationals of Afghanistan : Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India if the validity of the visa is more tham 30 days.
  • For nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, there should be a gap of 2 months from the date of last exit from India. For applicants not holding passports of above mentioned countries, there is no such restriction on visits on a tourist visa.
  • If the visit is planned for more than 180 days, registration with the local FRRO/FRO would be required within 14 days of arrival in India.
  • However, those applying for Tourist Visas, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country and re-enter India before finally exiting, could be permitted more than one entry, as the case maybe, subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting documents i.e. confirmed Air tickets at the Consulate-General of India, Birmingham.
  • Applicants are advised to verify their particulars on the Visa at the time of collection of their passports.
  • Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holders may submit their applications to the Consulate General in Birmingham directly.
  • All postal visa applications, irrespective of jurisdiction, are to be sent at the following address : India Visa and Consular Application Center , The Vista Centre, First Floor - Part A, Block 50, Salisbury Road, Hounslow, TW4 6JQ .Applicant must select ''UK-London'' as mission, while completeing the application form online. Please check details at http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk before posting the visa application. Such applications will take a minimum of 2-3 weeks. This is excluding the period applications have been in the post.

The firm has considerable experience in handling visa applications. At present it is handling visa applications for more than 21 countries which include the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE, Thailand and Schengen nations. It has a modern IT driven on-line application and tracking system and provides value-added services. All visa applications under the jurisdiction of Consulate General of India, Birmingham are accepted through VF Services (UK) Ltd.

The Visa Application Centre provides following services:-

  1. Online application/payment module
  2. Flexible mode of payments – cash, credit and debit cards, and postal orders (Bank/Agency charges wherever applicable)

The VF Services (UK) Ltd. has been authorized to charge a service fee of GB Pounds 06.90 plus prevailing VAT charges @15% per application over and above the normal visa fee of the Consulate. Postal/Bank/agency charges, wherever applicable, will be additional, to be borne by the applicant.

Visa applications can be submitted at the Visa Application Centre after booking an Online appoinment. Please logon to : www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/how_to_apply.html . Timing for collection of documents is between 1600 hrs. and 1730 hrs. on all working days (Monday to Friday).

 


 


2. EMERGENCY VISA SERVICE
 

1. When can you apply for the Emergency Visa

In extreme genuine emergency cases, like death or serious illness of an immediate family member (spouse, father, mother, children, children's spouse, grandchildren or their spouse, sibling or their spouse) subject to providing supporting documents as evidence from India, like death certificate/ hospital certificate duly stamped, and proof of relationship.

2. Procedure for submitting application for emergency visa:

Application for visa should be filled online via link www.hcilondon.gov.in. After filling an online application, applicant may contact Consulate General of India, Birmingham's emergency number on 07424545269. Public Response Unit will verify the documents and coordinate with the Visa officer after which the applicant will be given an appointment to visit the Consulate (2 Darnley Road, B16 8TE) to submit their visa applications.

3. Procedure for Minor Applicants

In case of minor applicants, original and self-attested documents are required. Marriage certificate, birth certificate (full version), consent form duly signed by both the parents, self attested copies of parent's passport, proof of relationship for emergency are required documents. A minor's application form can be signed either by one of the parents or both. Custody order from a Court will be required if the parents are legally separated.

4. Fee: Exact amount is payable in cash at HCI London or the Consulate concerned.

  • UK nationals (and persons with long term UK visa) : £200.00 (Visa fee £127.00 + consular surcharge £3 + emergency visa fee £70.00). This fee will also be applicable to applicants domiciled in the UK with long-term visa or BRP for UK.
  • Ukraine nationals : £137.00 (Visa fee £67.00 + consular surcharge £3 + emergency visa fee £67.00)
  • Mozambique nationals:
    • Single entry urgent: £121.00 (Visa fee £118.00 + consular surcharge £3)
    • Multiple entry urgent: £238.00 (Visa fee £235.00 + consular surcharge £3)
    • All other type of visa except transit and student up to 6 months in emergency: £238.00 (Visa fee £235.00 + consular surcharge £3)


2. e - VISA
 

Grant of e-Visa on a passport different from the passport mentioned on Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

GForeigners having e-Visa are travelling to India on a passport different from the passport mentioned on Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) issued to them.

In order to facilitate such applicants it has been decided that such foreigners may be allowed entry into India on the new passport even if ETA has been issued on the old passport, provided foreign nationals carry with them the old passport on which ETA was issued.

3. VISA APPLICATIONS IF PERSONS OF PAKISTANI ORIGIN

With effect from January 1, 2010, visa applications of British Passport holders of Pakistani origin and Pakistani nationals has to be submitted at the Indian Visa and Consular Application Centre, Birmingham, according to their residences falling under its jurisdiction. For jurisdiction please refer to VFS web-site http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk.

All applicants of Pakistani origin who hold dual nationality must apply for an Indian Visa on their Pakistani passport. Those who have either renounced Pakistani nationality or cancelled their Pakistani passport would need to submit documentary proof in this regard.

Processing time of applications will be 8-10 weeks or more.

Processing time for applications from Pakistani nationals/those holding dual nationality will be substantially longer.

4. Grant of e-Visa on a passport different from the passport mentioned on Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

AYUSH VISA

  1. Government of India has introduced a new category of Ayush (AY) visa for foreign nationals for treatment under Ayush system/Indian system of medicine like therapeutic care, wellness and Yoga viz. Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy etc. Foreign nationals wanting to travel to India for this purpose should apply for Ayush (AY-1) for treatment under Ayush System/ Indian systems of medicine. Their attendants should apply for Ayush AY-2 (co terminus with AY-1 visa holder).
  2. Ayush (AY-1 and AY-2) visa can be applied under Regular Paper Visa option as well as through e-visa portal.

 

Requirements for Ayush visa:

  1. Wellness Hospital/ Wellness Centre should be accredited and registered with any Government authority(ies) concerned or National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH)/ National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH)/ National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) accredited hospitals providing Ayush services.
  2. Applicant should submit proof of his/her financial standing (the production of a return ticket and availability of sufficient money to spend during his/her stay in India including the expenses for such treatment).
  3. Applicant should also submit medical documents [supporting letter from an accredited Ayush Institution where the visitor will be treated and prescription/ medical history document necessitating the treatment (not applicable to wellness) duly stamped by concerned accredited hospital of the foreigner’s country of origin or country of domicile].

 

Ayush Visa to attendant/ family members:

  1. Attendants/ family members of the patient coming to India for medical treatment under Ayush systems may be granted AYUSH-2 (AY-2) visa co-terminus with the AY-1 visa.
  2. Not more than two persons (attendant or family member) may be allowed at a time for the grant of AYUSH-2 (AY-2) visa.
  3. The principal AY-1 visa holder and attendant AY-2 visa holder shall exit India together, on completion of treatment or expiry of visa.

 

Fee for Ayush visa

Fee for Ayush visa will be the same as for Medical visa i.e GBP 101/- (one hundred and one only)
