Flag Hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of India.- 15th August, 2024

The Consulate General of India in Birmingham hosted a Flag Hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of India. Consul General Dr. Venkatachalam Murugan hoisted the National Flag and read out the message of Hon'ble President to all the esteemed guests. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches by High Sheriff Mr. Douglas Wright MBE and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr. Ken Wood, DL Ms. Jenny Loynton, Baroness Sandip Verma reflecting on the significance of this historic day reflecting the strong relation between India-UK.

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program that showcased a musical rendition by Ustad Johar Ali Indian Council For Cultural Relations , and a heartfelt patriotic flute performance by Dr. Lokesh Sharma. The ceremony was attended by over 110 people from the Midlands and North England,a reflection of unity and patriotism. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special day!
