Ravindra Mhatre Memorial Hall
Diaspora in Birmingham came together at India in UK (Consulate General of India, Birmingham) to remember Sri Ravindra Mhatre; the Indian diplomat murdered by terrorists in Birmingham on Feb 5, 1984. In his address, High Commissioner Mr. Vikram Doraiswami paid tribute to the departed & condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. On this occasion the community hall at the Consulate was renamed as ‘Ravindra Mhatre Memorial Hall’. Veteran community members also remembered their association with Sri Mhatre in the sombre event. A photo-exhibition on horrific incident and its aftermath was displayed at the Chancery premises. Dignitaries & Community members viewed the exhibition and remembered the supreme sacrifice of Sri Ravindra Mhatre.
