Repatriation of Indian Citizens By Non-Scheduled Commercial Flights

Air India will be operating non-scheduled commercial flights in a phased manner to repatriate stranded Indian Citizens from the UK to various destinations in India. The flights would begin from May 7. The flights will take off from London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

Priority is being given to the most vulnerable categories such as pregnant women and very elderly people, people facing medical emergencies, people who have bereavements or terminal/serious ailments in their most immediate families in India, stranded tourists etc. All Prioritised passengers will receive email intimation from the High Commission over the next few days starting today. You may contact us in case any immediate family members have been left out; we would consider them for inclusion on a case to case basis.

The flights would be made available on Payment-basis. You will be contacted directly by Air India regarding booking of tickets and payment. Your contact details are being shared with Air India. Refunds for previously booked tickets may be processed separately with Air India.

Medical screening of passengers would be done before taking the flight. Only asymptomatic passengers would be allowed to travel. During the journey, all passengers would have to follow the protocols, including the Health Protocols, issued by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Air India would be providing gloves and masks.

On reaching the destination in India, everyone would be medically screened; all would have to register on the Aarogya Setu app. Everyone would be mandatorily quarantined for 14 days, either in a hospital or in an institutional quarantine on payment-basis, by the concerned State government. COVID test would be done after 14 days and further action would be taken according to health protocols.

An undertaking to abide by the protocols framed by the Government of India and State Government would have to be given in this regard prior to boarding the aircraft. The format of the undertaking is attached at the end.

A printed copy of this undertaking will be available at the Air India check-in counter at the Heathrow Airport. You will have to fill it in and hand over the signed copy to Air India official at the check-in counter to get the Boarding Pass.
