Time Taken

Issue and re-issue of passports

 Minimum 4 - 5 Weeks

Certificate for Birth Registration of child up to one year of age. 

 1 Week

Tatkal service for out of turn issue of passport (after ensuring the authenticity of the passport and verifying the genuineness of the claimed exigency). 

 7-10 working days

Issue of replacement passport in lieu of lost/stolen/damaged passport etc.

No definite time-frame as it is on case to case basis. Those passports or identity documents that can be authenticated against available records in this Consulate, service is rendered 6- 8 weeks.  Those that need reference to Passport Issuing Authorities outside Birmingham and/or verification by local police in India, delivery time may be extended.

Certificate in lieu of surrender of Indian passport/renunciation of Indian citizenship

Emergency certificate (to travel to India)

No definite time-frame as it is on case to case basis. Those passports or identity documents that can be authenticated against available records in this Consulate, service is rendered within 15 working days.  Those that need reference to Passport Issuing Authorities outside Birmingham and/or verification by local police in India, delivery time may be extended.
