High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Y.K.Sinha accompanied by Madam Girija Sinha visited the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewa Jatha (GNNSJ) on October 14, 2017. Bhai Sahib Dr. Mohinder Singh, OBE, KSG, Chairman, GNNSJ welcomed the delegation and took them on a guided tour of the Gurudwara complex and adjacent Nishkam Centre. The High Commissioner and Madam paid their obeisance at the Darbar Sahib of the Gurudwara

GNNSJ is one the most proactive Sikh organisations of the region involved in selfless service along with its associated Nishkam Charity organisation. This visit had a particular significance against the backdrop of large number of Sikh population in the Midlands area (an estimated 135, 000 Sikhs reside in the region). The High Commissioner commended GNNSJ for their pivotal role in community cohesion and charitable work. He also highlighted the role of this organisation in the recent restoration and renovation project of Patna Sahib in Bihar, and also lauded their role in the restoration of the golden cladding of the dome of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Y.K.Sinha presented the Chairman, GNNSJ, Bhai Sahib Dr. Mohinder Singh Ji, with a specially made souvenir with the picture of the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Sri Amritsar as a token of appreciation for his outstanding work on improving inter-faith understanding, community cohesion and for the selfless services provided by GNNSJ & Nishkam Charity.

Consul General of India, Birmingham, Dr. Aman Puri thanked the GNNSJ and Nishkam Centre for their support in various initiatives of the Government of India to celebrate the 350th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He also mentioned that, as announced by High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Y.K.Sinha, a Photo Exhibition on Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji is being prepared partly by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, which will also be supported by the Council of Sikh Gurudwaras, Birmingham and the Nishkam Centre, and which will be taken to various cities of the Midlands and North England region starting this December 2017. The Consul General also mentioned that the visit of High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Y.K.Sinha and Madam to GNNSJ was very special as it was a long overdue visit.
